Jack Markell Trail

Jack Markell Trail

Wilmington Riverfront / Historic New Castle

This beautiful, paved and boardwalk trail connects Battery Park in Historic New Castle, DE to the Wilmington River front!

Hop on a Fin Bike at either end or bring your own and see views of the Delaware and Christiana Rivers, a 212-acre tidal marsh, a 10-acre ornament garden, and the Battery Park Dock.  You might even get to see a bald eagle or our local historical ship, the Kalmar Nyckel!

Take a pit stop at the Dupont Environmental Education Center to learn about the local wildlife, such as turtles, bald eagles, ducks, beavers and get a panoramic view of the marsh!

Know before you go:

This is a great trail for all levels! The trail is mostly flat and almost all paved except for a small section of boardwalk. There is a small section on the road through New Castle so make sure you are aware of cars, ride all the way to the right, and brush up on your hand signals if you choose to do this section.
