Sit-on-top Kayak

Sit on top kayaks are safe & easy. An open, sit-on-top hull makes it easier to get on and off of the kayak. In the event that you flip over, you don’t have to worry about it filling up and sinking. Paddlers with large body types, long legs, or limited flexibility may feel less confined paddling a sit-on-top. Molded-in foot wells provide a custom-fit feel.

One Single Kayak Rental includes:

  • One Kayak
  • One Paddle
  • One PFD (lifejacket)

One Tandem Kayak Rental includes:

  • One Kayak
  • Two Paddles
  • Two PFD (lifejacket)

Before your paddle

  • All participants will wear a PFD (person floatation device/lifejacket), clipped and properly adjusted at all times and will dress appropriately for the air and water conditions on the day of my paddle. We do have child life jackets available.
  • Respect and avoid all other boat traffic. Motorized vessels may not see you and it is your responsibility to stay out of their way.
  • Pay close attention to the weather and return to shore if you observe gathering thunderstorms, high winds, or other potentially dangerous conditions.
  • Understand that water sports require good judgment and focus. Alcohol and water sports don’t lead to good outcomes. Wait to celebrate when you are off the water.
  • When possible stay together as a group on the water.
  • Bring a form of communication. Cell phones are perfect for this. In the event of a life threatening emergency your fist call should be 911. We rent dry bags to keep your belongings safe and dry.

To ensure your safety

  • Check the weather. Forecasts will help you determine when is the best time to paddle. Use a radar to check on incoming weather. Do not paddle in open water with a Small Craft Advisory.
  • Know your water. Take a peek at Google Maps, ask someone in the area if there is anything that you should know about. Is the body of water tidal, if so check the tide. Higher tides receding may make the shallow area a mud flat! Is there are current?
  • Notice the direction of the wind. Remember, paddling with the wind is a lot easier than against. This is especially important in wide open bodies of water with an offshore breeze.
Stand Up Paddle Board

Cross Style Board – An ultra-stable platform equally suited for first-timers, family fun, fitness, yoga, fishing or whatever your next SUP adventure may be. The unique ‘hybrid’ design of the Cross features a keeled nose for excellent tracking, full rail-to-rail volume for enhanced stability and maximum use of the entire deck, and a full waterline to increase speed and efficiency. The most common damage charge is a lost fin – make sure it is seated properly.

One rental includes:

  • One Board
  • One Paddle
  • One PFD (lifejacket)
  • One Leash
  • One Fin

Size your paddle

Raise one of your arms as if you were doing a pull up. The other hand should be holding your paddle upright, parallel to your body, with your paddle’s blade touching the ground. Adjust your paddle to the height of the top of your hand in the air. Make sure to adjust until your paddle’s grip fits comfortable around the palm of your hand.

Getting Up

  • Get the board out into in water so the fin is free from hitting the bottom
  • Start in a kneeling position – on your knees take a few strokes on each side of the board
  • Slowly, stand up with one foot at a time and stay in the middle of the board with your feet parallel to the stringer – about shoulder width apart
  • Keep a slight bend in the knees and your core centered over the board
  • Keep in mind you may fall off, when you do, hop back up and try again.
